Miracle on 34th Street tells the story of Macy events director Doris Walker and her daughter Susan. Both Doris and Susan have cynically trained themselves to reject all notions of belief and fantasy. But when Kris Kringle, a man who claims to be the real Santa Claus, enters their lives they begin to think differently. Kris's persistent claims to be Santa Claus and success at spreading the Christmas spirit in improbable ways land him in some trouble, escalating to a lawsuit. Young lawyer Fred Gailey sets out to prove in a court of law that Kris is in fact the real Santa Claus, winning Doris's heart as well as the lawsuit.
