BARN QUILTS OF GREEN COUNTY, WI.
To promote and celebrate the visual arts through the combination of the many unique barns in our country that have played an important role in our economy through the generations and the warmth, beauty and artistic expression of quilts.
The first quilt installed was on the "county barn" at the Pleasant View Complex on Hwy. 81 near Monroe, WI. Residents at the nearby county nursing home were involved in painting the pattern, called "Whirligig," reminiscent of the windmills on the farms where many of them grew up.
Volunteer groups, including 4-H and FFA Chapters, have gotten involved in the painting process.
